UPDATE 7/22/17 (Saturday evening). OK. The management is listening. We returned for the once-a-month Saturday music of the really fun band, Take Two, and although the crowd was much less than last month (when the service was incredibly awful and inadequate), at least there was now adequate wait staff to service us in a timely manner. Nick, a now experienced waiter and his waiter-in-training, Tyler, did a good job. And the quality of the steak salad has come back. We will come back. :-)
UPDATE 6/25/17 (Sunday evening) - Castle Rock had sufficient wait staff this time for the crowd that comes for the fabulous music of Take Two. They even had table cloths on all the tables. The Manhattans were fine. But unfortunately they really skimped on what used to be a fabulous steak salad. I will go back because of the band and the improved service. Really disappointed by the just OK steak salad (which used to be the best I ever had anywhere). Guess they also changed chefs.
UPDATE 7/23/17 (Sunday evening) - I was accosted on the dance floor and then threatened by the owner of the Castle Rock building that if I didn't stop (I'm assuming someone identified me to her as the writer of these reviews) she would no longer host the band. This was after I had been served a warm Manhattan, which I was just going to let go. Apparently the owner of the business, the restaurant and bar, was also present. I later learned one of the owners berated another paying customer for going in search of her dinner, which was taking so long to be delivered. By the way, the only diners in the restaurant that I observed were the dancers, at Castle Rock solely because the band was there. Without the great band, Take Two, there would have been like 40 less dinners sold that evening. And by the way, the average age of us dancers is probably 72. I can't imagine what the owner of the building and the owner of the business were thinking when they berated their elderly customers.
Re; Saturday evening 6/17/17 - I have been going to Castle Rock Restaurant for a long time, mainly to listen and dance to the music of the fantastic duo band, Take Two. But also for the fantastic service of the waitress, Sonia, and the good Manhattans and great steak salad. The new management still kept the great steak salad, and Take Two remains terrific, but the new management let go the best waitress imaginable, Sonia, and despite the knowledge that a large crowd would be there last night for Take Two, they only had ONE waitress, the new and overwhelmed, Cynthia, and ONE bartender. We waited over an hour and a half before we could even place our drink and dinner order. If it wasn't for Take Two, we would have left. I sure hope they bring back Sonia, or we will eat and drink elsewhere before coming for the band.
Here for breakfast. Its always good! Friendly employees and guests.
Food is good, chardonnay wine fair. Too cold inside for a temperature of 65 outside; felt better outside.
Had breakfast with my wife. Her waffle was cool and the butter ball was rock hard, straight from the refrigerator. I ordered eggs poached softly with my corned beef hash and home fries. The eggs were served well done. The home fries were greasy. Also it took a long time to receive our meals. After the meal we had difficulty getting the waitress's attention so we could pay the bill. We were not happy customers.
